Step!
NJ SEEDs student advisor, Daquan Mickens, is also a very excellent stepper. Daquan says that he sees it as a way to express all of his feelings and give inspiration to others to try new things. When some one feels like they have no rhythm, it feels wonderful to him when he prooves them wrong. According to Daquan, although step may hurt at first and you might not be too good at it, the combination of music, dance and the energy you will get from your teammates makes it worth while.
Daquan first started dancing as a way to meet girls. I know what your thinking ,but later in life it became so much more than that. In his rough high school years, stepping itself and his "step family" helped him through it. Stepping gave him life long friendships and exciting memories. After hard work and dedication, Daquan has been able to go to several step competitions representing Williams University including the Harvard Step Competition. This goes to show you that hard work pays off and can be very fun too.
